Yesterday afternoon just before picking up the boys, I put on my boots, grabbed a toque and took Miss Aura out for a walk. At one point we were approaching two elderly ladies. I always try to let people know about 20 feet prior that I am approaching with a dog.
"Excuse me. I just wanted to let you know that I am coming up behind you. I didn't want to startle you."
One of the two women turns around: "Darn it. A sniff in my rear is just the jolt I need these days!"
Now that's good. As I giggled to myself, I noticed with the warm sun that I was starting to sweat. It made me happy that we are living out loud in a generation where sweating is encouraged to purge the body of toxins. That and a good old sniff of the rear.
Yesterday was an awesome day. I was so productive and that always puts a skip in my step. G is slightly under the weather, so I made a huge batch of homemade chicken soup. I caught up on all outstanding work tasks and I managed to chop a fridge full of fruit and veggies. I baked a ham for lunches and sliced that right up too.
Somewhere in between skating and baths, I read that last few pages of Sarah's Key - all by myself. It was a gift from my hunky hubby for Christmas. He chose a Heather's pick (smart guy). It was sad in parts but redeeming for sure. I loved the depiction of strength within the human spirit. If you need a new read, check it up.
Speaking of new reads, all the mention about soft porn 'round here is really hyping up this month's book club book, The Slap, for me. Seriously who couldn't benefit from a sexy, controversial read. I only began it last night but am expecting to use my book light a lot in the month of March, if you get my drift. What? It's not like I'm bring the thong back, I am only steppin' up on hump day.
Hope Gage is better soon. I would have peed my pants (you'll see that's something you and your gals will get to discussing eventually) hearing that woman make that comment. It's amazing what the elderly say when we stop to listen to them.
