I am dire need of a new afternoon pick me up:) I am still battling low iron(despite 150mg of iron and a more than ever kick ass green leafy diet) and by mid-afternoon I can barely keep my eyes open. I drink coffee and/or tea in the morning but I can not drink tea in the afternoon. It gives me nightmares and then I am MORE tired because I spend the better part of my night saving my loved ones from bad things:) Weird, yes I know....
So I turn when needed to a can of Coke and it does give me the boost I need BUT then I fill my day with guilt (well, I don't fill it but you get the point) because I think that coke is ASS for our bodies. Lululemon states so boldly that it is the niccotine of our young generation AND check out these facts - S-C-A-R-Y.
1. In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.
2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.
3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl... Let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean.
4. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.
5. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a crumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
6. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away corrosion.
7. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.
9. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days.
10. To carry Coca Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly Corrosive materials.
11. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!
12. It was originally meant to be a cure for headaches, untill cocaine was illegalized and they had to remove it from the recipe.
I am by no means telling you not to drink Coke but I want a healthy alternative that gices me a serious boost. A friend mentioned Brewer's Yeast and I am trying that but so far no effect:)
Where do you get that afternoon pick me up?
I drink apple juice or chocolate milk. Both are sweet and taste like a treat, and give me enough of a boost to get through until dinner!

OK Ya-Ya.
#1. Coke OWNS vitamin water.
#2. Here is a bit of information that I have learned from a combination of sources, but mostly a naturopath and Cornelia bean.
Tea - try mate Yerba tea. I LOVE the Green Tea Mate. It is a slowr eleasing tea that Aborigional Peoples used for energy in all day fasts.
Legumes...peas, soy nuts and hummus - every day essentials for energy.
It you MUST - take 1 vitamin water ENERGY! Again, slow releasing garuana is a natural product that helps with sustained energy.
Lastly - always end your shower with a BLAST of cold water! That my friend is energizing!
No more Cokes for you.

I recently picked up a "GO LITE" at Costco. I have suffered from winter blues disorder for several years and have found it becoming more disruptive as I get older. Looked into the idea of light therapy..and went out and splurged on my new friend! Last week Costco had it on sale-save $30 off! I am already feeling the benefits on my go lite- just 15 minutes in the morning when I am working at my computer is all it takes to get back on track and not have to worry about the extra sugar in my diet. I would recommend this alternative to anyone who has tried it all and hasn't found the solution yet!
