Viva Mexico!
Ole! We are home....we were relaxed up until the flight and the 1 billion loads of laundry:) It was a great, great trip - all smooth sailing and everyone had far more fun than expected. It was
was not relaxing... in the context of how relaxing is a family vacation EVER? Here are a few highlights (pictures to come later)...
1. I look like and feel like a buffet if that is possible. There is no better way to kick off living a super healthy life in 2009 than stuffing your face for a week long at buffets. I did however manage to keep up eating "6 meals a day" if it counts that I always hit up both restaurant buffets at either meal just to see if they had something different. I also frequented the ice cream cone buffet each day while I watched my ponch in the bikini grow larger. I might have felt a bit ripped offf that my sister's big preggo belly hit all buffets and ice cream beneath a firm round ball.
2. The kids were great! The unlderlying disclaimer to that is that this was THEIR vacation. We did and ate whatever they want. This will be the detox week from H#$$! Seriously, they were great...they played hard, swam all day long, crashed hard and fast for naps and bed, and had us entertained non-stop. Lilly is a social butterfly and it was really fun to spend a week straight with her. She hit the kids dance stage every night without fear and after a few nights Evy started up there too and in true naked Evy form proceeded to strip naked in front of the crowd. No more stripper jokes:)
3. Kirby and I relaxed. Relaxed because we napped with the kids and most often fell asleep with them at bedtime. Just having no chores or cooking stuff for me was relaxing. Relaxing however does not mean we spent time at the pool bar (unless we were towing kids there for slushies), we did not read any books (last year sans kids I polished off 5 (yes, 5) long books), we did not get tipsy, we rarely strolled the beach (unless we bribed babysitters), and we did not do romantic dinners! Next yea r maybe:) Brandi I am envious! Two children near water and different ages requires man to man defense and so we actually only really "talked" to each other as we drifted off to sleep.
That being said - it was worth it! While I can't remember what we talked about we had a great family trip, spent lots of quality time with my sister and family, and parents. Jaclyn, Harris and I also crossed something of the bucket list and went swimming with dolphins. Harris also crossed soemthing off his list (I was too chicken) - he and Kirby jumped off the Cliff of Courage at Xel-ha - 15 feet!!!! He said I want to jump, climbed up there with Kirby and Darren and without hesitation - jumped!
*** I'll save all this for another blog but what a great blog to come back too - talk about interesting and inspiring - 2009 is going to be one great year! REtreat Spring 2009 infor packets will be emailed to you this week - any last minute takers????
Even without tipsiness, romance and books, I am still envious. It sounds like you had an awesome time, what great memories!

Where did you stay? I really want to do an all-inclusive with my kids...we are, however, hitting DisneyWorld at the end of March - I don't expect that to be very relaxing! Fun, yes! Relaxing, NO!
